DPR Mid-February Club Update

Hi everyone – welcome to your mid-February club update! News to highlight this time:

Annual Dinner
Our annual dinner takes place on Friday 8 March at the Lordship pub in Dulwich. Tickets have been selling well, but are still available on the website here

Tickets are a bargain £29.50 for members, and include a three course meal, a welcome drink, coffee, chocolates and a great evening of conversation and music with your clubmates. More details at the link above.

When buying tickets via the website, please remember to submit your menu choices and separately purchase our ticket via Paypal.

Half marathon club championships
There are still just about entries available for our club championship race, the Kew Half Marathon on Sunday 31 March. But you’ll need to be very quick-on-the-draw, as they’re due to sell out very shortly – enter at the link here.

Races this & next weekend
We have strong DPR contingents running at the Wokingham half marathon and the London Winter Run, which are both on Sunday. Good luck to everyone running! If you happen to be in the area – why not cheer on your clubmates? Or perhaps run into central London for a Sunday long run to see people at the Winter Run?

If, as well as Wokingham and Kew, you’re looking to do another half, then Paddock Wood next Sunday (3 March) still has spaces. It’s a popular and well-run race, so do get involved! Entries here.

Social events
Two upcoming DPR social events to book tickets and into your diaries:

– Dulwich Hamlet vs Cheshunt, this Saturday (24 Feb), 3pm. Book tickets here.
– The play ‘The Sobcentre’ at the Brockley Jack – Friday 1 March at 7.30pm. Tickets are here.

Beginners
Our beginners and 5k-5 miles courses resume for Spring on Saturday 9 March. Do publicise them to friends, colleagues or family who are interested in taking up running! More details in the poster below – great for sharing on social media!

Marathon Marshals
DPR will again be providing a marshalling squad for a section of the London Marathon on 21 April. We are still looking for a few more people to join the marshalling team. In return for giving up your time for the day, you get lots of free kit, a packed lunch, an opportunity to watch the world’s elite and cheer on your DPR clubmates AND a chance to win the 2025 marathon place we are given in return for marshalling. If you’d like to sign up or would like to find out more, please email Derek at boswedden@btinternet.com.

Food bank runs
After a successful trial in January, we will again be doing a food back run at our club run this coming Tuesday. Please bring along anything you would like to donate, and it will go to the food bank!

We’re hoping to continue running these regularly throughout the year. To help facilitate this, we’d be grateful for any volunteers who drive to the club who would be willing to collect the donations, and to be at home on Wednesday morning so that the donations can be collected then.

Annual Achievement Award
We’re excited to announce that the club’s annual Special Achievement Award is now open for nominations!

You can nominate any member except committee members. The reason for nomination can be anything you think deserves recognition over the past year – a contribution to the club or local running community, athletic achievement, or someone who has made a lot of progress with their running over the past year.

Please send your nominations with a brief supporting statement to Emma at secretary@dulwichparkrunners.co.uk by the end of today (Friday 23 February). The committee will consider the nominations, and the award will be presented at the Annual Dinner.

Committee posts & AGM
A reminder that our AGM this year will take place on Tuesday 26 March. We’ll be electing a new club committee, so do get thinking about whether you’d like to take on a role!
