Mid-October Club Update

Hello everyone! Welcome to our mid-month club update. Well done to everyone who was part of a super club turnout last weekend at (deep breath) Beginners, Cross Country, the Cabbage Patch, the Oxford half marathon, Titsey Trail 10k, and (most impressively of all) IB for a super time at the Loch Rannoch marathon in Scotland! A full recap will follow in the November newsletter, but here’s hoping we can keep it up for the rest of October!

Some of our runners at the Cabbage Patch - well run all!

5k club championships
This year’s 5k club championship is taking place at Dulwich parkrun on Saturday 4 November – never a better time to claim that elusive parkrun PB!

If you’ve not done parkrun before, then the run starts near the Queen Mary Gate in Dulwich Park. You’ll need to register on the parkrun website, and don’t forget to bring your barcode! Everyone should wear club kit if possible – let’s turn Dulwich Park green-and-white!

Beginners
Saturday is the final session for the Autumn Beginners course. Our beginners are running 5 miles, so will welcome every last bit of support to get them around the distance. There are groups running at 8am and 9am.

There is a free breakfast for anyone who has helped with beginners this year at the Plough Cafe in Dulwich from 9.30am.

Cross Country
Our next cross country league fixture is on Saturday 11 November. Hot off the press is confirmation that this is at Oxted – easily accessible via Hurst Green station. The men are racing at 1pm, and the women at 2.30pm.

We are also looking to enter the London Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill on Saturday 18 November. Look out for more details on how to enter this.

Quiz Night – 2 December
The DPR institution of our annual quiz night returns on Saturday 2 December at the clubhouse – book it in your diary now! Details on how to purchase tickets to follow.

Suffolk – final call!
A final reminder that we still have places on the Suffolk weekend on 27-29 October – please let David know ASAP if you would like to come and have not yet said so.

Run Leaders
Finally – a repeated call from the October newsletter for volunteers to put themselves forward for the new role of ‘Run Leaders’ on Tuesday nights, which is an important step for us to help ensure club nights remain safe and welcoming for everyone.

The expectations on run leaders will be light – just to make sure that they can navigate the route, and to make sure everyone in their group is accounted for. More details are in the October newsletter – if you’re willing to put yourself forward, please email IB (treasurer@dulwichparkrunners.co.uk) or Nicole with your name and the pace you normally run at.
